Kick out Negativity

Image
The world is full of people and people are full of thoughts, ideas and feelings. We live in a society and enjoy the company of friends and family. But what happens when these people who share your life, who become a part of it by virtue of relationships or friendships contribute in negative ways to your life. People share negative thoughts, negative ideas, negative emotions and constantly prod you to be party to their "negative" thought process. Infact, things like news and television can also constantly add to your daily dose of negativity. You, if you are like me, on the inside don't like that they are talking so negatively about say a person but on the outside nod your head or stare as if you are watching Arnab Goswami on Primetime, without basically adding anything to what they are saying. You would think that this was a good way of handling "negative talk" situations. But after repeated exposure to such incidents I have understood that even if you do no...

Closure

Some relationships never get closure, And some dreams never get freedom.

Friends No More

Don't you treat me like a convenience store. We are friends no more. Now that you are far as you wish I want to say good bye to you bitch.  I put that in because it rhymes, but i chuckle at the splendid coincidence!  I feel sad from within that you did this to me. We were friends before but not any more.

Conversations

Conversations. We have them every day amongst family and friends and even acquaintances. I don't think a whole lot about most of them. But there are some that leave me with a sense of satisfaction, joy, just a smile or just more questions. These are the ones I'd like to take note of. Think about why they were so. Why do we linger on to some conversations more than the others? Let's see. My most enjoyable conversations are with my good friend, AB (let me name her that). We have uber long talks about each and every detail of our lives. With that details I mean those that are necessary for her to understand the situation or what we are currently going through. Each time we talk about the major life events between our 2 conversations we digress into discussing so much about the past. These conversations would have been hard to come by if she had not been a part of my life for the last 10 years. She is part of so much of my life that i cannot imagine having such a conversation w...

The Mortenson Way

Image
Some people are meant to do some amazing things for this world, making it a much better place for us . Greg Mortenson is doing it his way. "Three Cups Of Tea" which is essentially a biography of this phenomenal personality had given me all the chronological details of his life. But actually listening to his story from the man himself, told me that this guy was for real! I got this opportunity to listen to him at a lecture in the premises of the Colorado State University, Fort Collins. It struck to me that people could actually do such things: they can survive the worst, come out stronger and forge effective changes for the human good. "Failure", which is also the name of the first chapter in his book, has literally been his stepping stone to success. In 1993, devastated by the death of his sister, he decided to summit the K2 , the world's second highest peak, in her honor. He failed to complete this mission. Barely surviving the ordeal he reached the village of...

मिलन

Image
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This poem is for the lovely Su & D. May yours be a blessed union. Pic taken by:me

V-day & it's Very many VVays..

As i observed the happenings on yet another Valentine's day, it was interesting to note the very many opinions people had about this day. Every year, similar opinions are up in the air. This year , in India, the anti-heroes took centre stage and an unexpected set of events unfolded. Yes, first the opinion of the fanatical few. The ram sene, shiv sainiks, bajrang dal and more of the lot. They are the special few who think they are upholding Indian culture by opposing the so called western influences. And their love for Indian culture literally explodes during valentine's day. So they go about rallying against public display of love, harassing young couples, beating up 'modern' women. With such unjustifiable acts of violence, they try to inculcate culture amongst Indians, and especially the women, in ONE day. The rest of the year, they prove their hypocrisy. Thanks to the actions of the ram sene in Mangalore [the capitals avoided on purpose], we have heroes coming up in In...

d good things about america..

yeah, obviously there are a whole lot of good things about america . i believe it is the people of the country who truly determine it's outlook. america for instance is made of people who are very friendly and independent at the same time. americans accept the presence of each person around them and respect every individual uniformly. This is shown by very minute gestures such as the 'hi, how are you' they utter to perfect strangers but with perfect warmth. It's amazing the way they treat people. 'Thanks' and 'Sorry' come as often as ever but each time u are assured that they mean it, and that is amazing. but yes, they are so much on their own. walking, eating, reading, doing everything all by themselves. Independent is an understatement. This nature of the american lot has perhaps made them more tolerant to immigrants (except for when we begin threatening their jobs!), bringing about a great cultural mix in their society.Instead of complaining, the...

I love her. and I am going to be staying around Denver for a while now. Does anyone know where exactly she stays in Denver? :P

Women, getting truly everywhere.

It would be cliched to say that women have truly made their mark in every possible field and to hail this achievement, we need to recognize her by celebrating her day on a certain day of the year. Yes, definitely. That would mean women have broken into the so called man's world and have learnt those tricks of the trade which makes a man tick in his trade. This could mean a great deal of physical, mental changes for the woman, but now she is bold enough to approach it and bear it. Gone are the days when men were from Mars and women from Venus. Today both are earthly beings, they are plainly practical. They both are fighting this game for survival. A certain incident opened my eyes towards this..This was just a fortnight before the International Women's Day (celebrated on March 8th). I was caught by the traffic policeman for venturing on a road meant for 4 wheelers (while i was on 2 wheels). I cursed my luck and pulled my gaadi towards the 'corner' the policeman showed m...

KUMBLE.Com

Image
I always wanted to write about this remarkable human being , Anil Kumble , my childhood-teenage and all-age hero . I realised that it is never too late to write about him. At any point, he is doing more than what he is expected to do, he is doing more than his best. Right from my younger days I have had a soft corner for the underdogs, the not so glamorized personas and Kumble has been one such cricketer. In India, being a cricketer and a not being a demi-god is unusual. This unusuality and simplicity of Kumble struck me. N ofcourse, I got bowled over.By his good looks. As a teenager, I happened to meet him once at a school event and among hundreds of students, I was the only one to manage an autograph from him. The 'video' of his smile emerging from within his sexy moustache can be played in my mind over and over. In the excitement I uttered to him.. " This is the best day of my life".. I don't know if he even heard it.. but for my teenage diaries, it remains one...
