d good things about america..

yeah, obviously there are a whole lot of good things about america.

i believe it is the people of the country who truly determine it's outlook. america for instance is made of people who are very friendly and independent at the same time. americans accept the presence of each person around them and respect every individual uniformly. This is shown by very minute gestures such as the 'hi, how are you' they utter to perfect strangers but with perfect warmth. It's amazing the way they treat people. 'Thanks' and 'Sorry' come as often as ever but each time u are assured that they mean it, and that is amazing. but yes, they are so much on their own. walking, eating, reading, doing everything all by themselves. Independent is an understatement. This nature of the american lot has perhaps made them more tolerant to immigrants (except for when we begin threatening their jobs!), bringing about a great cultural mix in their society.Instead of complaining, they just make the most of it, if they are interested that is; otherwise i think they would just ignore the changes around them!

Their society is based so much on trust and respect for each other that progress is inevitable. For instance they simply respect the rules made by their state. Traffic rules or rules for garbage disposal, the average american follows it all. and they simply trust that everyone else follows these rules. that makes things so much simpler for america's well being.

i love their education system. it gives so much more liberty to the individual to choose his/her area of study. The variety is tempting. the most important aspect being that there is no compulsion at the undergrad level (for the first one year) to choose your area of study. So you have a lot of time to decide whether it is human psychology, literature, history, physics, music, law, statistics or engineering. the choices are of a wide spectrum and hence give immense room for specialisation in fields unheard of sometimes. this helps the society at large to be strong in various domains. d right people are there for the right things and they are respected for whatever they are doing. (i think if i was here at the time of my undergrad, engineering would be my last option! )

also, it is a country proud of it's being. they are feverishly patriotic. i noticed every building has an american flag (sometimes every room of a building would). they are proud of their history and protective about every historical relic. every immigrant signs a form which states that he is an 'alien' for whatever purpose visiting the United States of America. the word 'alien' makes you feel like a no one. but the positive thing is, it reminds u how united the americans see themselves to be.

i think they are a country of innovators. i like the way they make some things very simple. architecture is just one of the evident examples. everything is kept simple in the construction. d absence of cupboard handles (there s just a wedge to open/close doors);d inbuilt closets hardly showing their presence;d absence of compound walls (again a show of trust) is note worthy. these save so much material and cost !!

i am not surprised that some extremist nations would be envious of america and would want to hurt it. what they want to do is hurt it's spirit. america's spirit lies in it's ever friendly and warm population; in the broad spectrum they see and accept life in.

(this article however does not undermine other countries। countries that cannot follow suit because of integral & inherited restrictions such as poverty, colonialism, fundamentalist policies, population etc. i believe, they are wonderful in their own respect).

first, nice blog layout.
Second, well, i would like to concur and differ with same number of points... ya true they are positively patriotic and more innovative than all the nations put together. but then, when it comes to cultural amalgamation and synthesis, something warm is difficult to say for them in the larger picture.but then, so far so good for you..

True appy...People truly follow rulez..For example in our cafeteria, the cashier sits in succha place that its very easy for people to just sneak out with their food without paying, but alas no one does that..Even Indians in the presence of Americans dont dare to do that...

That's a well versed article!!! Its a nice way of showing respect and appreciation for an other country by not criticizing our own.. Generally there are 2 kinds of people...one who criticizes our own and appreciates an other country and an other one who doesnt like to appreciate an other country thou the place deserves to be..

And you are this 3rd kind the world needs...On a whole..good job!!!
